UNTITELED 2 - CLAY, ROCK, WOOD SUBSTRAT & MOLD - 2026
This piece explores colonization through the encounter between a constructed clay form and a found stone. The clay, shaped and layered directly onto the rock's surface, does not conceal its support but reveals a relationship of dependency and imposition. This gesture evokes broader processes of colonization — the way new forms settle upon, adapt to, and ultimately transform pre-existing structures. The rock, geological and pre-human in origin, becomes both foundation and witness to this act of settlement, raising questions about permanence, appropriation, and the traces left by one form upon another.
